The ring originates from the Fulani (or Peul) people, a nomadic ethnic group widespread in West Africa, especially in Mauritania and Cameroon.
The upper part rises to a height of 1.8 cm (0.71 inches); the internal diameter measures 1.4 cm (0.55 inches).
