Tekke Silver Wedding Headdress

Antique Turkmen wedding headdress in gilded silver, known as an egme, decorated with set carnelians. The egme was an important traditional female ornament worn on the forehead on the occasion of marriage, particularly among the Turkmen peoples of Central Asia.
The curved shape of the ornament was designed to fit the front of the headdress and contributed to emphasizing the woman’s status and marital condition.
