Kewa Turquoise Shell Necklace

Vintage Handcrafted necklace made by the Kewa people (historically known as the Santo Domingo Pueblo), custodians of a renowned jewelry-making tradition in New Mexico.
The shell pendant is decorated with refined turquoise inserts created using the mosaic inlay technique. It also features a strip of mother-of-pearl and black and red stone inlays, probably jet and jasper, respectively. The 3 strands are composed of turquoise heishi beads, crafted according to the traditional Kewa technique.

A 2.95 in (7.5 cm) extension chain is fitted at the end of the necklace.
