Antique Indian solid silver belt from Central India.
The jewel is composed of an intricately woven silver mesh decorated with ornamental plaques. The closure features a pin and a screw fastening mechanism.
The reverse bears two engraved inscriptions, possibly referring to the names of previous owners or to dedications to deities. This type of jewellery formed part of the bride’s dowry (strīdhana), representing the woman’s personal wealth, and was traditionally passed down as a family heirloom.
