Antique Ladakhi Perak Headdress Back Dress – Turquoise jewelry

Antique “Perak” headdress from the Ladakh region (Himalayas).
This ornament forms the back portion of an ancient noblewoman’s headdress. It is crafted from a leather band, whose front surface is inlaid with turquoise bearing a beautiful antique patina, as well as lapis lazuli and glass (or carnelian) beads—stones regarded as sacred and bringers of protection and prosperity.

Along the outer edge is an antique ghau adorned with turquoise, a traditional Tibetan reliquary used to hold sacred images or prayers.

Perak headdress was worn by aristocratic women during solemn ceremonies and public events, and was passed down from generation to generation.
