Antique Indian silver belt | Tamil Nadu

Antique beautiful silver belt from Southern India.
The front part is composed of five silver plaques placed side by side depicting wonderfully engraved animals and birds in relief, the central plaque is decorated with a dark red glass set in relief in the centre. Above the central plaque two birds are depicted facing each other with a floral-shaped element decorated with an antique dark green glass bead embedded on the left.

The back side of the belt is rigid and is decorated with engravings on the inner and outer surface.

The front side of the belt measure a total of 9.25 inches (23,5 cm) from side to side, and 1.49 inches (3.8 cm) in height (the central plaque one is 5 cm / 1.96 inches high).
At its widest point, the belt measures 10.23 inches (26 cm) from side to side.

The belt can be opened through two silver pins located on both sides of the central plate.

The jewel is antique and collectible
