Antique Indian Lakshmi pendant | Tamil Nadu

Antique Indian gilt silver ornament, wearable as a pendant, originating from southern India. Originally used as an ornament for a long hair braid at the back of a woman’s head, it was worn on festive occasions.

The front features a relief depiction of the goddess Lakshmi under an elegant canopy.

The back has a silver loop that originally allowed it to be suspended from the braid; today, as a pendant, it can be hung from the hook at the top.

The lower part is decorated with gilt silver spheres.
