Antique Omani “Shahid” Silver Ring

Antique small and very fine “Shahid” Ring in Silver with beautiful engravings on the front.
The “Shahid” ring is a traditional Omani piece of jewelry commonly worn on the index finger. The term “Shahid” means “witness” in Arabic, referring to the raised index finger during the proclamation of the Shahada, the Islamic profession of faith.
These rings often feature hand-engraved decorations with circular, linear, and floral patterns. The main shapes include a circle topped with a rhomboidal figure or a teardrop design. Some pieces may have gilded details or granulation. They were widespread throughout Oman, especially in the north and the southern Dhofar region.

The ring has an inner diameter of 15 mm (0.59 in), while the front measures 30 mm (1.18 in) in height.
