Rare and antique traditional “Chin” necklace, composed of thin metal discus spacers with a beautiful aged patina, dating back to the 19th century or the early decades of the 20th century.

The Chin are an ethnic group primarily living along the border regions of Burma (Myanmar), India, and Bangladesh. Originally from China, they settled in these areas through various waves of migration. The Chin are also known as the “Zo” people, a broader ethnic group that includes the inhabitants of the Indian state of Mizoram.

The necklace consists of four strands of thin metal discus spacers, each approximately 6 mm (0.24 inches) in diameter, used both as ornamental elements and symbols of social status. These pieces are crafted using traditional techniques, including metal casting and hand-finishing.
