The surface is decorated with polished carnelian cabochons and two green glass inserts. The bird of prey, traditionally associated with power and protection in Eurasian cultures, gives the ornament a possible symbolic meaning. The double-headed eagle (or pair of birds of prey) is an ancient symbol of power, protection and spiritual connection, widespread across Eurasian shamanic cultures and Turkic peoples. The loop has been attached to the wrong side, so the pendant appears upside down relative to its original orientation.Provenience: Turkmenistan Dimensions: 15.5 × 8 cm (6.10 × 3.15 in). Weight: 74.76 g (2.64 oz).
</oembed>
